What You Will Need

Here is what you absolutely need:

• Computer Case - holds everything together
• Motherboard – hooks all the different components together inside the case and facilitates communication between each component
• Processor – The main brain of the computer
• Memory – Stores programs and files that you have open for quick access
• Hard drive – Long term storage of large files
• Power supply- converts the electricity from the wall outlet into correct voltages for the computer
• Video Card – creates pictures and sends them to the monitor
• CD Rom Drive – required to install your operating system and programs
• Monitor
• Keyboard
• Mouse

Here are a few things that are nice to have:

• DVD Burner- by far the cheapest way to store data. Good for archives and backups.
• Sound Card – most motherboards come with built-in sound capability, but an upgraded card provides better sound
• Printer
